I can be a Matilda is a board book to celebrate the forthcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup to be held across Australia and new Zealand in 2023. This strong board book of sixteen pages will teach young readers a few things about soccer as well as encourage them in its pursuit.

Younger readers are introduced to a few basic soccer skills: team work, running, dribbling, defending, passing and scoring a goal. Each double page shows the skill the young girl is practising and is told with humour in the text and colourful illustrations.

Parents will enjoy this introduction to playing soccer and relate it to the games that will be seen on TV later this year.
