(Age: 14+) Recommended. Thriller. Espionage. When Gwendolyn Bloom decided to try and find her father who has disappeared, she finds herself on a thrilling and dangerous quest, one that she could never have imagined. After discovering that her father is really a CIA agent and that the CIA think he has gone to the other side, she is determined to rescue him no matter what the cost is to her personally. She manages to leave the US and arriving in Paris is trained in the art of espionage. Taking on a new identity she tracks clues from the seamy edge of Paris, to Berlin and then to Prague, where she goes undercover in the crime underworld. There she finds that she has to be very cruel in order to save her father.
Already optioned for film by Jerry Bruckheimer, this is a high octave thriller that will have the reader gasping at the suspense and action as Gwendolyn gradually changes from a misfit in a snobby New York school to a dangerous assassin who will stop at nothing to find her father. The reader willingly suspends belief as Gwendolyn learns how to protect herself from attack, hide her identity and goes undercover traipsing across Europe in search of her father.
Exciting twists and turns, lots of bodies, spies, and traitors make for a gripping read and an open ended conclusion will ensure readers come back for more of Gwendolyn Bloomís adventures.
