The Wollemi Pine by James Woodford

cover image Louis Braille Audio
I couldn't imagine the non fiction book, The Wollemi pine: the incredible discovery of a living fossil from the age of the dinosaurs being read on CD, but sent from Louis Braille Audio, I listened. And what a tale. It sounds like a detective story, with information given about the characters as they go about their search and identification of the pine tree discovered in the Blue Mountains in 1974, alongside the most incredible and involving detail about the beginnings of time in Australia, its flora and fauna, and most incredibly, the sex life of pines.
It is a story so engrossing that I couldn't stop listening. The journalistic style suits the story and the reading by Paul English adds flair and an almost covert feeling to the whole.
