Ned Kelly's Jerilderie Letter edited by Carole Wilkinson

cover image Louis Braille Audio Read by Francis Greenslade.
11+. Australians have always been fascinated by Ned Kelly and this audio presentation of his Jerilderie letter is a stunning introduction to the history behind the myth. Impressively edited by Carole Wilkinson, the letter retains the wonderful flavour of Ned's colonial language and his anger at the corrupt police whom he believed had forced him into a life of thieving and murder.

Francis Greenslade has a rich deep voice, which sweeps the listener along into the history of the period. As he reads the vivid descriptions in the letter, the listener easily imagines Ned being accused of horse theft, his violent reactions to the injustice done to his family and his eventual fall into killing policemen. The historical background to the letter is also presented in a very interesting way.

Both children and adults who are interested in history will find this fascinating. It is a must-have addition to a library or history department.
