Stinky, the tale of a smelly dog by John Heffernan & Stephen Axelsen

(Age 7-10) Great illustrations and a story line that had me grinning constantly will ensure that this chapter book will have instant appeal for its young readers. Stinky is 'a little dog with a big problem'. She is really smelly, but her owners, Mrs and Mrs Hardcastle, are so old that they can't smell her. When they go to a grand hotel to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Stinky hides in a suitcase, and begins a series of hilarious adventures in her quest to stay with her owners.
One of the Giggles series, this book will be a treat for newly independent readers who may well enjoy repeat readings. It also begs to be read aloud by adults who will also enjoy the humour. The quirky illustrations on most pages add lots of depth to the story line. Highly recommended.
